Varadero Golf Club is the first 18-hole golf course (par72) in Cuba.
Since it includes both the easy bogey and the difficult par, it is considered as one of the best in the Caribbean, due to the good deal of golf players it can welcome.
The course has a total length of 6850 yards, (6269 meters). The terrain, which resembles an island with other inner islands, slopes softly fromteh smooth San Bernardino Hill, which is the highest point in Varadero Beach, on the Hicacos Peninsula.
The wide and protected greens, with hazards that will demand highly meticulous approach strokes, fairways shaped as islands, sand traps, inner ponds, the sea and the wind somehow as a natural obstacle are part of its attractions.
The Varadero Golf Club is located right in Varadero Beach, with its excellent hotels, marinas and entertainment offers; the golf course has two spectacular attractions: the sea around it and the Xanadú Mansion, which used to be the summer hideaway of Mr.Irenée Dupont de Nemours. This elegant house, built between 1928 and 1930, provides deluxe accommodations in a highly refined interior atmosphere recreated with good taste using Cuban precious wood and Italian marble.
The Mirador Bar, on the last floor, is great for enjoying a terrific view of the pleasing contrasts between the soft green colour of the golf course and the turquoise blue colour of the sea surrounding it, with the fresh air jumping from hole to hole like the balls.
